The answer is MAYBE. There is more to an uncontested divorce than the simple agreement that you wish to be divorced. In Tennessee, you may file a divorce on the grounds of “irreconcilable differences”, which is what many refer to as an “uncontested” divorce. These divorces typically save you time and money. However, you can only obtain a divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences if you and your spouse are able to reach agreement and enter 1) a Marital Dissolution Agreement, which divides all assets and debts and 2) a Permanent Parenting Plan (as necessary), which addresses your parenting schedule, child support, and other issues related to your minor children.
